Qantas and Virgin Blue profits point to clear air ahead?
The profit reporting season has underlined how resilient the Australian domestic market has been in light of continued tough trading conditions for the world’s airlines.
The headline underlying net profit figure for Qantas came in at the higher end of its guidance at $377 million for the full year, while net profit after tax was 4.3 per cent lower at $112 million. That came as the airline group’s consolidated revenue of $13.8 billion, down on the $14.4 billion recorded last year.
