Sydney Airport’s runway end safety area (RESA) project has won the Infrastructure Projects award at the prestigious Engineers Australia Engineering Excellence Awards.
Construction of the 90x90m cleared and paved safety area at the western end of the east-west runway (07/25) was a significant engineering challenge as it had to be built over a major sewerage line, the M5 East Motorway tunnel, and a major electricity cable. The complex project was led by Sydney Airport and also involved Baulderstone and Aurecon.
