GippsAero
A new chapter for Gippsland Aeronautics
Morwell in Victoria is now shaping up to be one of the next centres of general aviation manufacturing and design as GippsAero pushes ahead with a new major investor to take a greater presence within the global utility aircraft market.
As well as the renaming of Gippsland Aeronautics to GippsAero, early July saw the closing of an investment agreement with Indian conglomerate Mahindra & Mahindra, which was first announced in late 2009. While not that well known in Australia, Mahindra owns a number of interests around the world in a variety of sectors such as IT, manufacturing and farm equipment. It also has experience in the aviation industry through its aerospace division, which GippsAero will now become a part of.
