Fuel tax increase
The fuel tax on aviation fuel will increase over 25% from July 1 to help fund CASA, but no mention has been made of how CASA intends to become more efficient.
The Government expressed outrage at the Coalition for referring the new tax increase to a Senate Inquiry, but for AAAA and the Regional Aviation Association – the only two industry representative bodies to give evidence – it presented the first opportunity to ask where the money was going, how it would be spent, and what offsets in efficiency where on offer.
