Qantas recorded the highest rate of on time departures during May, while Regional Express was the best performing regional carrier, according to a report from the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE).
For the month, Qantas recorded an on time departure rate of 89.7 per cent, followed by Jetstar at 86.9 per cent, Virgin Blue at 86.4 per cent and Tiger Airways at 78.6 per cent. The regional airlines were led by Regional Express at 88.9 per cent, followed by QantasLink at 87.9 per cent and Skywest at 87.1 per cent.

Virgin Blue experienced the highest rate of cancellations for the month, with 1.2 per cent of its schedule cancelled, followed closely by Qantas at 1.1 per cent. Rex recorded the lowest rate of cancellations at 0.1 per cent.
