A 26 year old man has received a $4000 fine for saying that there was a bomb onboard a Jetstar aircraft to get passengers to “move a little quicker”.

Cairns man Noel Marama received the fine after he told fellow passengers on a flight that had arrived from Brisbane on June 27 that there was a bomb onboard the aircraft. Marama was then interviewed by Federal Police, and admitted that there was indeed no bomb. Magistrate Allan Comans labelled Marama’s actions as “completely irresponsible” as it could cause panic in this day and age. He was fined $4000 and recorded a conviction.
