A Qantas A380 operating a service from Singapore to Sydney sustained damage to two tyres while landing at Sydney Airport on March 31.
While landing at the end of the QF32 service, two of A380 VH-OQC’s left main gear tyres burst as they touched down on Runway 16R, with reports of flames coming from the undercarriage. The A380 was left disabled on the runway for a number of hours, while the 244 passengers on board were taken off after two hours and bussed to the terminal.

A Qantas spokeswoman told media on April 1 that the airline had not yet ascertained what caused the tyres to blow, and that it was a rare incident which has not occurred on any of the airline’s other A380s.
