One time Australian Aviation ‘Defence Update’ columnist T Max Hawkins passed away in Sydney on February 16, aged 83.
Hawkins was a well known and respected defence writer, editing the Defence Industry Newsletter and the Australian Defence Report for many years, and wrote the ‘Defence Update’ column in Australian Aviation from the early 1980s through to the late 1990s.

Well known as the founding president of the National Press Club from 1971 to 1977, Hawkins was the Brisbane Telegraph‘s federal political correspondent from 1964 to 1986.
