On time performance among Australian domestic carriers was significantly better during November 2009 compared to the same month last year, according to a report recently released by BITRE.
For the month, airlines averaged 85.6 per cent on time departures and a cancellation rate of 0.7 per cent across all domestic services, compared with rates of 78.5 per cent and 2.1 per cent respectively during November 2008. Virgin Blue recorded the highest rate of on time departures at 86.7 per cent, followed by Qantas (86.6 per cent), Jetstar (82.8 per cent) and Tiger Airways (77.9 per cent).

QantasLink was the best performer of the regional airlines, with 86.7 per cent of its flights departing on time. It was followed by Skywest at 79.3 per cent and Regional Express at 78.5 per cent.
Tiger Airways had the highest cancellation rate at 2.4 per cent, followed by Virgin Blue (one per cent), Skywest (0.8 per cent), Jetstar and QantasLink (both 0.7 per cent) and Qantas (0.6 per cent). Regional Express recorded only a 0.1 per cent cancellation rate.
