V Australia’s first flight from Brisbane to Phuket departed on November 22, with the outbound Boeing 777-300ER operating a full flight.
“With our first flight full to overflowing it’s obvious that Queenslanders have been waiting sometime for a direct service to Phuket and V Australia is pleased to be filling that gap,” Virgin Blue chief executive Brett Godfrey said.

V Australia now operates twice weekly services on the route, departing on Fridays and Sundays, its first destination away from the crowded and now lower yielding trans-Pacific market. The airline is also due to start a weekly service from Melbourne to Phuket from December 3, two days after it launches its first twice-weekly direct service from Melbourne to Los Angeles.
