The French Minister of Defence has confirmed an order for 60 Rafale fighters for that nation’s air force and navy, bringing to 280 the total number of Rafales France has ordered.
The aircraft are planned to be built at the modest rate of only 12 per year, but the Ministry has said this may be adjusted to allow for possible export orders. Dassault hopes to be successful in at least some of its bids to sell the Rafale to Brazil, India, the UAE, Kuwait, Switzerland and Libya in the coming months.
