The US Air Force has retired its last active F-15A/B. The final aircraft, F-15A tail number 77-098 (an FY77 budget year model delivered in 1979) has been flying with the Oregon Air National Guard since 1994.
The A and B model F-15s were replaced by the F-15C/D in production from 1980, and have been slowly phased out of service since, most be mothballed at the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG) at Davis Monthan AFB in Arizona where rows upon rows of the aircraft can be seen sitting in the desert sun.
