Jetstar renews GDS agreements

written by australianaviation.com.au | October 23, 2009

Jetstar has renewed distribution arrangements with the Sabre and Worldspan global distribution systems.

The new arrangements will allow Jetstar (JQ), Jetstar Asia (3K) and Valuair (VF) tickets to be issued via the GDS’s through a single agreement. Jetstar Pacific tickets will soon be added to distribution through Sabre, in addition to its existing agreement with Worldspan.

“Through our growing interline and GDS partnerships, customers planning travel across the Asia Pacific region are increasingly able to tap into the Qantas Group network when determining their travel itinerary to or from Europe, Asia, the United States or the Middle East,” said Jetstar’s executive manager commercial David Koczkar.

“Customers can now travel to more than 50 destinations on Jetstar alone with our interline partners significantly extending the options even further.”

GDSs are traditionally shunned by low cost carriers due to the additional costs it adds to tickets, but Jetstar negates this by adding a surcharge on tickets purchased through a GDS.
