Aviation Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) service officers at Broome, Rockhampton and Mackay have recently been involved in assisting local brigades with fires in their respective regions.
Airservices Australia says that at Rockhampton, ARFF crews were involved in fire containment and property protection measures around the Lakes Creek area, while they also assisted in filling firebombing aircraft used to fight fires in Mount Archer National Park. In Mackay, ARFF crews responded to a cane fire next to the airport, while in Broome crews assisted local brigades to protect homes from a threatening bushfire.
