Singapore Airlines launched daily Airbus A380 services to Melbourne on September 30, the Victorian capital’s first daily service from the Airbus double-decker. Melbourne becomes Singapore Airlines’s sixth A380 port, with the A380 services increasing the airline’s capacity to Melbourne by 35,000 seats a year. Singapore Airlines has so far taken delivery of 10 A380s. On the weekend one had to return to Paris two hours into a flight to Singapore after suffering an engine failure.
