• The Portuguese air force held a ceremony at Air Base 5 Monte Real on July 9 to mark the retirement of its 32 surviving A-7P Corsairs, which entered service in 1991. They will be replaced by additional F-16s.
• The Sri Lankan Air Force will acquire another two Mi-24s gunships to supplement those already used in operations being conducted against the rebel LTTE Tamil Tigers, The Island newspaper reported on July 4.
