“The economic environment has never been more uncertain, certainly in Southwest Airlines’ history, and accordingly we’got to adjust. Just in the nick of time we have cut our fleet growth. Our fleet growth plans are suspended indefinitely.”
That is the stark and sober assessment from Chairman, President and CEO Gary Kelly of Southwest Airlines an airline that is quite possibly the best barometer of economic conditions in the world’s largest and possibly sickest economy.
