Boeing to Consolidate 787 Work at Fishermans Bend
Boeing Will Move a Large Proportion of Its Aircraft Fabrication and Repair Work in Australia From Its Hawker De Havilland (Hdh) Facility in Melbourne in the Coming Months to Make Room for an Expected Ramp Up in 787 Dreamliner Production.
Hdh Manufactures Composite 787 Trailing Edge Control Components Including Flaps, Ailerons and Spoilers. The Consolidation of 787 Work at Fishermans Bend Has Been Underway Since May, a Transformation Which Has Seen Boeing Australia’s Component Repair Work Moved to a Facility at Melbourne Airport and Placed Under the Company’s Integrated Defense Systems (Ids) Umbrella, Its 777 Rudder Fabrication Work Moved to Bankstown, the Manufacture of 737 Krueger Flaps Moved to Spirit Aerostructures in the Us, and the Manufacture of F/a-18c/d Trailing Edge Components Moved to the Space Formerly Occupied by the Component Repair Area. Fabrication Work on Airbus A330 and A340 Landing Gear Doors Has Wound Up in Recent Months After Reportedly Being Re-sourced by Airbus, While A380 Wing Fence Work Will Remain at Bankstown.
