From a factory unit in Perth, Structural Monitoring Systems (SMS) has developed a technology which could dramatically reduce the maintenance costs and time taken to inspect for cracks in aircraft structures.

Traditionally, cracks must be monitored by conducting visual and non destructive testing on an area of an aircraft as per a service bulletin.
