The Super Hornet survived the first stage of the Air Combat Capability Review process, will the JSF survive the second? (US Navy)

Air Combat Capability Review Options

The public version of the Labor government’s Air Combat Capability Review (ACCR) was due to be released during the life of this issue after being presented to Defence Minister Joel Fitzgibbon on April 30 for consideration by government’s National Security Committee.

The ACCR’s first stage was an assessment of the RAAF’s short-term combat needs out to the 2015 timeframe. As expected, the previous government’s decision to acquire the F/A-18F Super Hornet under the Air 5349 Bridging Air Combat Capability (BACC) project was ratified, as was its decision to retire the F-111Cs from 2010.
