Goodbye to the ‘Seven O’

The ADF’s only air-to-air refuelling unit, Richmond based 33SQN, is currently flying the ADF’s only air-to-air refuelling aircraft, 707 A20-624 Richmond Town.

33SQN is preparing to transition from the much loved but aged Boeing 707 to the vastly more capable EADS/Airbus KC‑30 (see from p62). And this year also marks the 25th anniversary since 33SQN wasreformed in 1983, 29 years since the 707 entered RAAF service, and Richmond Town’s 40th birthday after its first flight in March 1968 prior to delivery to Qantas.
