All Change?

In NOTAM last issue I noted that at the time of writing – about 10 days before the federal election – that the Labor Party had not released an aviation policy. There was always the danger in highlighting that fact that something would be released before the election was held, and so it came to pass! But the release of Labor’s Statement on Aviation 2007 just days before the election – discussed in more detail from page 22 – is certainly to be welcomed.

We look forward to the new Labor government’s release of its 20 year Future Aviation Plan, as promised by then shadow Transport Minister Martin Ferguson. Carriage of that plan now rests with Infrastructure and Transport Minister Anthony Albanese, and industry will be watching closely to see how he deals with critical aviation infrastructure issues.
