• The last unit in the world to operate the Fairchild C-119 Flying Boxcar, the Republic of China Air Force’s 103rd Squadron, held a ceremony at Pingtung on December 19 to mark the type’s retirement.
• An announcement from Boeing on December 2 said it had been awarded one of three Initial Design Activity (IDA) contracts by the Australian Defence Force for the Project Wedgetail AEW&C system for the RAAF. The Boeing proposal will use a 737-700 fitted with a Northrop Grumman 360 degree steerable beam Mutlirole Electronically Scanned Array (MESA) radar.
