Dreamliner’s publicity nightmare
It came as absolutely no surprise to anyone in the industry that the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rejected absolutely suggestions from former Boeing engineer Vince Weldon that the 787 was “unsafe and brittle” and that it should alter the certification and testing process for the predominantly carbon fibre twin-jet.
What is a surprise is that Weldon’s claims received the airing that they did, although many in the US allege that former CBS anchor Dan Rather was looking for a sensational story to resurrect his career.
