Hawker Hunter Jets Imported
Following hot on the tail of the Jets Now Flying item in the July issue of Australian Aviation comes news that no less than 20 Hawker Hunter jets, previously operated by the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) have been imported. The jets have been imported by Geoff Moesker of Queensland and comprise single seat aircraft as well as a number of two seat trainers. Already several aircraft have been sold overseas and as yet there has not been any advertising and promotion here in Australia. Originally 21 aircraft were purchased but sin 500, a two seat T.75 trainer with an Avon 122 engine, went direct to well known American jet warbird dealer, Wally Fisk of Arnjet at Minneapolis.
The RSAF has operated over 40 Hunters in the fighter, ground attack and recce roles and with new equipment being obtained the jets became surplus and were placed into storage. The purchase included 35 spare engines, ground service equipment and airframe spares. The majority of the spares have been purchased by International Air Parts of Sydney. A number of Hunters have also just been made surplus by the Swiss Air Force and some of these have already gone to the USA so IAP’s spares holding will no doubt be welcomed by the American buyers.
