Ansett Fokker 50 VH-FNH has returned to service after a leasing deal with a new Indian airline fell through. Note the aircraft now wears full Ansett Australia titles, and not those of Ansett Express or Express Shuttle. ft is pictured here at Canberra (Keith Myers)
Civil Register Update
Register Review
Almost one third of the aircraft listed in the New Allocations this issue are helicopters, including two new Robinson R22s and an R44 imported by the Robinson agents Heliflite. The R44, APM, is the fifth of its type to be registered in Australia, and at least two more are known to be in the country awaiting sale.
Of the used helicopters that have been imported, the oldest is Agusta Bell 206B UOA, which was one of ten aircraft originally bought by Bristow Helicopters and delivered to the company at Redhill, England, during August 1967. Seven months later, the machine was shipped to Nigeria for use on Bristow contracts in that country and stayed there for the next 26 years registered 5N-AHM. Earlier this year it was returned to England but was almost immediately on the water again, this time heading for the company’s Kununurra operation. Another Bristow machine recently arrived from England is Sikorsky S-76 BHQ. This started life with the Royal Jordanian Air Force but was pensioned off during late 1993 and sold to Bristows along with several others of the same type. After two months of refurbishment at Bristow’s Redhill facility, it too joins the Bristow fleet in WA.
