Airtest- Eagle X-TS

The Eagle X-TS

The Eagle X-Ts

The remarkable Eagle X-Ts looked like no other aircraft I had seen. Starting out as a two flying surface canard, it is now more an unbraced tricycle biplane (or sesquiplane) with considerable negative stagger. But it clearly handled like a Star Wars X-wing fighter, as ex-Mirage pilot Denis Macneall darted from position to position and exuberantly pulled up and over our camera ship at the end of the photo session. I knew then that I was going to enjoy flying this unconventional Pitts sized joint Malaysian and Australian aircraft, but was still surprised and impressed by its control response and roll rate when finally able to sample it myself.
