Australia Air Gets an Extension:
Following its failure to raise the $55m capital required to start operations in late March, would-be international operator Australia Air has been given a three month extension by the International Air Services Commission (IASC).
Australia Air has been given ap proval to operate the equivalent capacity of one Boeing 747 service per week to China, but needs to satisfy the IASC that the necessary funding is in place. The airline now has an extra 90 days in which to do so and plans an underwritten public issue and private placement of fully and partly paid shares. Australia Air told the IASC that arrangements with underwriters County NatWest and Turnbull & Partners were well advanced by the end of March and that the share issue was expected to open in early April. The underwriters claim they have been “over whelmed with inquiries from potential investors.
