1994 Australian Flying Training Directory
1994 Australian Flying Training Directory
State of the Industry A year ago we reported that there was a general sense of optimism in the flying training industry. It was thought that with the recession ebbing, the industry was at last positioning for slow but steady growth.
Unfortunately it turned out not to be the case. Department of Transport and Communications’ research revealed that for 1992, average flying hours per aircraft declined by over 5%, and in fact almost 10% of aircraft on the register did not fly at all while flying training activity continued to fall from its 1989/90 high by a further 6. 8%.
Nevertheless, there is some more recent evidence emerging that a recovery is underway, although it is still very patchy. The CAA reports that avgas sales have started to increase, and AOPA also believes there has been some strengthening of activity in the last half year along with the general sense of increasingly positive sentiment in the business world.
