Definitely the lighter side of aviation!

Uninvited company Not so humorous at the time but certainly capable a chuckle when told (much) after the event was this incident relayed to your editor some years back.

It is 1942 and a new group of neophyte US Army pilots deployed to the remote reaches of the NT to assist the RAAF in the defence of Darwin. Their rudimentary base is located deep within the scrub and seemingly a haven for everything alive except humans. On top of that, the often exaggerated lethality of the local insect and reptile population has exceeded all measure of reasonable believability following informed and somewhat dramatic briefings’ by the local Aussies.
