Civil Register Update

Register Review

Although 39 aircraft are shown in the New Allocations section this issue, it is interesting to note that when this nwnber is broken down into groups only two privately owned GA aircraft have been imported, Cessna 150 AGP from the USA and Turbo Saratoga AQL from Hong Kong. The Cessna is a 1966 model whilst the Saratoga was built in 1986.

The largest group to appear are those that have been reregistered, a practice that is becoming more common each month and which was banned during ·the late 1960s because of the extra paperwork required by the then DCA and the confusion that it caused by having one aircraft carry as many as seven different identities during its life in Australia. The majority of overseas countries still do not allow this practice. Of the reregistrations, probably the most significant are the two Piper Chieftains RUI and WGG. Both these aircraft have been disposed of by Oxley Airlines as their new Beech 99s have arrived and they have been acquired by John Green who owns Seaview Aviation based at Lord Howe Island and has had close ties with Oxley over the years. The two commuters have been changed to SVN and SVV respectively and John has also bought Commander 690B FOZ and changed this to SVQ. Another two Oxley aircraft, Warrior MOX which was used for pilot training at the airlines base at Port Macquarie, and Chieftain LHG have also been reregistered. The Warrior has been sold to Bligh Aviation of Bankstown and has taken up the personalised markings of BLI whilst the Chieftain is now with Country Connection Airlines at Cootamundra as XLB. It joins two others of the same type on Country Connections NSW routes linking Temora, West Wyalong and Forbes to Sydney.
