The first Saab 2000 to be constructed for British Airway's German operation, Deutsche BA, is now undergoing fight testing. The 350kt (650km/h) cruise speed Saab 2000 will join Deutsche BA's feet of Boeing 737s and Saab 340s. The Saab 2000 is due to enter airline service upon delivery to its launch customer, Crossair at the end of this year. (Saab)

Gecuts Workforce:

Fromapeak of 34,000 in 1991, General Electric Aircraft Engines’ workforce is set to be cut to 22,000 following another series of layoffs affecting 4000 workers.

GE has predicted its engine business revenues willfall from $US7. 4bn in 1992 to only $US5bn before business begins to improve. Rival manufacturer Pratt & Whitney is also in the process of cutting its workforce from 44,000 last year to 30,000by the endof 1994.
