Of jelly beans and jets

As there is in any organisation, a friendly rivalry exists between pilots flying different types of aircraft in the RAAF.

For example, transport pilots are often known as Trash Haulers or Trashies, while those who fly fighters readily answer to the name Knuckle Head or Knuck. Also, for some obscure reason, fighter pilots have a reputation for liking jelly beans. This probably had its origins in WW2 where the convenient size and high glucose content of jelly beans made them ideal for giving pilots an energy boost during long escort missions.
