The production total of Taiwan's Ching-Kuo Indigenous Defence Fighter has been slashed by half following that country's purchase last year of Mirage 2000s and F-16s. The planned total of 250 aircraft has been revised down to just 130 fighters, sufficient to equip two wings. With the cutbacks, the ROCAF will in the future be equipped with 150 F-1611/Bs, 60 Mirage 2000-5s, 130 IDFs and 90 F-5Es. The cutback is widely believed to have also jeopardised any significant further development of the aircraft
