Traffic Keeps on Keeping On:
An expected increase in July domestic airline activity, due to the school holidays, over that of June was not unexpected. However, the anticipated fall off in August has reversed with DoTC figures showing that August traffic was almost as strong as that of July.
In Revenue Passenger Kilometre (RPK) terms, the worldwide industry yardstick. August saw 1. 626bn RPKs performed as against 1. 682bn for July and just 1. 283bn in June. By comparison, October ’90, the final month of regulated air services saw 1. 291bn RPKs performed.
