The Messerschmitt Has Arrived

A Messerschmitt is a Messerschmitt unless it is a four seat passenger version known asa Bf-108. Recently one of these rare machines was imported into Australia from Canada. Painted up as a single seat fighter the aircraft is sure to attract a lot of attention wherever it goes.

It is understood that the aircraft is in fact a French built machine known as a Nord 1000. Following the invasion of France by Germany during WWII the type was built there. After the war Nord continued to build modified versions with nose wheels. The Bf-109 was powered by a 270hp Argus inverted eight cylinder engine. One gets the feeling that because of its shape and colour scheme this Bf-109 is likely to see more than its fair share of being shot down by Mustangs or similar during an airshow act.
