Airline Pilot Numbers Nearing Their Targets:
At the beginning of February all three domestic airlines had reached or were nearing their full requirement of pilots.
As reported elsewhere in Airline Affairs, East-Westhas publicly stated that it reached a full complement in mid January with 57 pilots for its seven F28 Fellowship jets. This is believed however to be a fairly tight number with little room for day to day loss of pilots through sickness, accidents, leave or through time away on courses, etc. With the addition of new BAe 146-300 jets from late this year, it is expected that EWA will require twice this number a year from now.
