AIA International Council Fight Offsets

The main message of particular relevance to the Australian aerospace industry from US participants at the Aerospace Industry Association (AIA) of America International Conference – be they from DOD, the Department of Commerce, from Congress or from the sub-contract level of industry- was their intention to get rid of offsets.

While there is some recognition from major companies that they will have to continue to play the ‘offsets game’ with foreign countries while their competitors continue to do so, the determination to eventually get rid of offsets cannot be over emphasised. The first assaults can be expected where US manufacturing faces no international competition.
