Dofa’s Civil Aviation Corporation the Start of a New Era?

The basic framework for splitting up the various functions of the Department of Aviation has moved a step closer following Aviation Minister Peter Morris’ late October announcement of the formation of the CivilAviation Corporation.

The CAC will ultimately be responsible for the management of the civil airways system in Australia. This covers air traffic control, flight advisory services, navigational aids, communications systems and rescue and fire fighting services located at airports. Essentially the CAC will be modelled on England’s Civil Aviation Association (CAA) while the soon-to-become-operational Federal Airports Corporation (FAC) resembles the

UK’s British Airports Authority.
