Ksa Digs in for a Long Battle:

The Sydney Chamber of Commerce KSA task force committee is getting ready for a long battle to achieve what they feel are vital improvements to Australia’s major international airport.

During early July, new State Premier, Mr Barry Unsworth, made it clear that politics and the airport went hand in hand when he publicly advocated the complete banning of all third level and corporate-type aircraft from KSA. The implementation of such a ban on the hard-pressed commuter airlines would send them to the wall, stated a member of the Regional Airline Association. The industry also feels the Premier’s attack was unfair as the noise footprint of a Bandeirante, Chieftain, Citation or Learjet are small compared with the bulk of larger airliners.
