If you want to do something really depressing then I suggest you go no further than spend a day touring the Government Aircraft Factory at Fishermen’s Bend in Melbourne.

Perhaps to those who have never dealt with GAF (an ironically coincidental acronym!) this statement may appear a little hard on what was our largest aerospace manufacturer. However, equally depressed were the influential group of Parliamentarians and Senators who reported to the Parliament in late 1985 on the activities of GAF under the brief of the Joint Committee of Public Accounts.
