On The Airbands
Just keep those cards and letters rolling in! Well, maybe we aren’t receiving many cards, but we are getting piles of letters into Australian Aviation from you contributing to ‘On The Airbands’.
We are also happy with the broad cross-section of persons who are writing to us, from passengers to commuter airline Captains, to ex-wartime aviators, a completely representative slice of the entire aviation scene here in Australia. To all those who have contributed, a big THANK YOU.
Getting down to business. . . if you’re a VHF listener, have you copied the extremely polite domestic 727 skipper who calls everyone on the radio ‘sir’, and repeats ‘sir’ at the conclusion of just about every sentence he utters through the ether? ‘Roger sir, good evening. ‘ ‘Thank you sir. Yes sir, we’U climb to flight level 3-9-zero Sir, leaving 3-7-zero. Thank you sir! I’ve personally heard this chap for some time. He used to fly DC-9’s, and occasionally scored a ride to Vanuatu. I salute you Sir, whoever you are, you’re a pleasure to listen to, and I believe my attitude is shared by ATC and Flight Service!
