Book Reviews
German Aircraft of World War II John Frayn Turner.
Available from Kookaburra Technical Publications, PO Box 648, Dandenong, 3175. Rec retail $10. 95.
This unique book is the first of its kind to be published on German air craft of World War II. Now aviation enthusiasts and aero-modellers can see German aircraft as they really were, through magnificent reproduced colour photographs. Each type of aircraft is accompanied by a brief “biography” together with tables of the most important marks and their specifications: engine, span, length, height, weight, crew number, maximum speed, service ceiling, normal range and armament.
There is also a lengthy section on the aircraft in action, which is in effect a history of the Luftwaffe in the Second World War. Christopher Shepherd, an expert on German aircraft, has chosen the illustrations and written the text which includes: six types of Messerschmitt, four of Junkers, four of Heinkel, three of Henschel, four of Dornier, three of Focke-Wulf, and three of Arado.
