The financial year just ended has been significant for the airline industry in Australia – significant in terms of insignificant movement, despite noises off from the Federal Government.
A cynical overview is perhaps unkind. But it is truthful. Hurryings and scurryings in the airline world have produced no firm trend-line in giving the passenger a cheaper deal, thus far.
Pan-Am and Continental were fighting their private war on the other side of the Pacific. Singapore Airlines was girding its loins to thwart a drive by Australia’s sacred flag-carrier and British Airways, by initiating landing right rumours.
