Leonardo Australia has announced that its Essendon Fields service centre has received Part 145 approval from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.

The four-times-weekly flights will be serviced by its 787-9s and land at a destination that provides quick ongoing connections to major US cities including New York, Chicago and Miami.

A tiny Jabiru J230D came within 183m of vertical separation of the larger aircraft, but neither altered course because the situation was only recognised “moments” before their paths intersected.

The airline’s announcement that it will hit 110 per cent of pre-pandemic levels at Easter comes despite the federal government extending rules criticised by Rex, Bonza and the ACCC.

The aircraft crew flew nine missions, detecting and reporting over 110 suspicious vessels and helping locate one vessel of interest.
