HARS Aviation Museum will display a range of vintage aircraft from the ’50s and ’60s this September to commemorate the sacrifice of 60,000 Australian men and women who served in the Vietnam War, including 523 who lost their lives and more than 3,000 who were wounded.

The American twin-turboprop light attack and observation aircraft, used during the Vietnam War, is a direct reminder of the 36 Royal Australian Air Force pilots who flew with the US Air Force 19th and 20th Tactical Air Support Squadrons during the conflict.

Australia’s first dedicated coating facility, specialising in applying stealth paint to the aircraft, will be built in partnership with BAE Systems Australia and responsible for the maintenance, repair, overhaul, and upgrade activities for Australia’s fleet of 72 F-35A aircraft.

A call to action was announced for the sovereign UAS product crucial to national defence during discussions at the 2023 ADM Defence and Industry Research Symposium hosted by the University of South Australia on 8 August.

A 48-hour pause was initially implemented on all Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) NH90 medium utility helicopters including three deployed to Exercise Talisman Sabre, following the tragic loss of the ADF helicopter and four onboard aircrew. The Taipan’s black box was recovered on Tuesday.

Australia confirmed the acquisition of 40 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters this year after approval was given from the US State Department for a US$1.95 billion purchase.
