Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth Airports all lost money on aeronautical services last year, with Melbourne down the most at 38.8 per cent, and Perth the least at 0.05 per cent. Sydney and Brisbane recorded losses of 27.4 per cent and 5.9 per cent respectively.

From 9 October to 30 November, the main runway will be closed between 2am and 11:30am, with regional airline traffic to use the second runway if required. In a statement, a Jetstar spokesperson confirmed that the airline has now cancelled all flights between Darwin and Bali between 9 and 28 October.

The Flying Kangaroo has unveiled a new livery for three of its aircraft – a Qantas 737-800, a Jetstar A320, and a QantasLink Dash 8 – featuring the Yes campaign’s logo, saying it has long supported reconciliation and a “fair go”.

China Southern, Asia’s largest airline by fleet size, will fly four times per week between Brisbane and its base in Guangzhou starting on 17 November, using 334-seat Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The service is expected to add almost 278,000 inbound seats between Brisbane and China over three years.

In total, the airport saw 4.08 million international passengers, compared to 6.29 in the 2019 financial year, and 16.08 million domestic passengers, compared to 17.6 million in FY19. Additionally, June 2023 saw a 98 per cent domestic recovery and 77 per cent international recovery on June 2019.

The 21-year-old aircraft, VH-8TG, was last used by Indonesian carrier Sriwijaya Air before its freighter conversion, with other past operators including Garuda Indonesia and Ryanair. It can carry over 23.9 tonnes of cargo.
