The Hon Ed Husic, Minister for Industry, Science and Technology, announced the release of $44 million worth of grants to assist Aussie companies in pursuing various research projects, with $3 million being contributed to Dovetail Electric Aviation.

The airline began flying between Tokyo-Narita and Perth in 2019, but had to cancel the service due to COVID-19 lockdowns.

Flight QF101 took off at roughly 9am from Sydney, and returning at 11am after turning around over the South Pacific Ocean.

The flight, which was carrying 145 passengers from Auckland to Sydney, made a mayday call citing engine failure as the cause when it was just one hour from landing.

With countries like China and Japan opening up their borders once more, and travel numbers reaching pre-pandemic levels, the tourism industry is set to boom.

Current reports cite the cause of Qantas Flight QF144 making the call as an engine malfunction.
