Though previous launches were undertaken under restrictions of civilian launch, the company has confirmed that the new approval will enable it to test, integrate and refine the guidance systems to a higher standard.

WGCDR Burge, currently of 32 Squardon, achieved the fight flying a hugely diverse range of aircraft including a Pilatus PC-9, Caribou and the King Air B200 and B350.

The prime is competing against rival Northrop Grumman in its bid for the Commonwealth government’s $2.7 billion AIR6500 project. The two have already seen off Boeing and Raytheon in the first phase of the evaluation process, with a final decision due late next year.
