The plane, registered as VH-SIP, began running rough during a post-maintenance check flight at around 300 feet above ground level, before stalling and crashing, killing the pilot.

The agreement formed part of a wider memorandum of understanding between the two nations that aims to both bring them together and improve PNG’s sovereign aviation capabilities.

The business will be providing two of its products to make up the complete communications solution: its LifeX multimedia communications and collaboration platform, alongside its Onsite messenger and incident management module.

The aircraft is a heavily modified military derivative of Boeing’s 737 aircraft and is designed to track aircraft and ships simultaneously. 

Defence Industry Minister Pat Conroy made the announcement on Wednesday at AVALON, which the government said would generate millions of dollars for Australian businesses.

The business said STRIX could be used for a variety of missions, including air-to-ground strike against hostile targets or surveillance.
